The Faculty of Science of Palacký University in Olomouc is a research-based faculty that offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral studies in various branches of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Earth Sciences.

Doctoral study programme Geography (specialization Geoinformatics and Cartography) is focused on main theoretical disciplines in various branches of geoinformatics and cartography (informatics, database systems, mathematical analysis, geostatistics, modelling, etc.).

The themes of doctoral thesis include questions of application of geoinformatics technologies (GIS, remote sensing, GPS, computer cartography), theoretical aspects of cartographic semiotics in analog and digital cartographic products and aspects of atlas production.

Main aim of doctoral study is to prepare highly qualified scientists for expert and scientific work in several specializations of geoinformatics and cartography.

Admission procedure

Applicants for Ph.D. studies should hold a M.Sc. degree in the relevant field of study and show that they are able to undertake the study successfully. The decision is made by Admission Committee nominated by the Dean of the Faculty based on study record transcripts and personal recommendations. Selected candidates may be invited for an interview.
